New Mexico United is excited to announce the loan acquisition of Shanyder Borgelin from Inter Miami CF of Major League Soccer. The Haitian-American striker joins the Black & Yellow through the end of 2023 season. At just 21 years of age, Borgelin is in his fourth pro season.
“I love to work hard,” said Borgelin. “I’m a learner who is always willing to work hard and give it all for my team. I’m ready to compete and fight to score goals, so that I can represent the people of New Mexico in the best way possible. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity.”
Borgelin has experience at the USL Championship, MLS Next Pro, and MLS levels. His pro career began with Bethlehem Steel in 2019, where he appeared in 25 matches over two seasons. In 2022, he joined Inter Miami II of MLS Next Pro, appearing in 23 matches and scoring 14 goals. This season, he made his MLS debut for Inter Miami’s senior side, scoring in his first match and making a total of 13 appearances.
He was born in Margate, Florida and has represented the Haitian National Team at the youth and senior levels. Borgelin is eligible to play in this Saturday’s match against San Diego Loyal, and will be available for questions for the media at today’s press conference at the First Financial Training Center at 12:30 PM.
