(February 15, 2021) Albuquerque, NM – The New Mexico United Academy will host its first-ever open trial sessions for players interested in trying out for the inaugural Academy team. The trials will take place on March 13th and 14th, (one day per person) and potential attendees may register online on Thursday, February 18th. Attendees must provide their own equipment, and these sessions will take place at no cost to participants.
“We are creating an avenue for New Mexican youth players to compete at the top level in the country,” said New Mexico United First Assistant Coach & Director of High Performance Youth Programming Zach Prince. “The open trials give us the opportunity to evaluate players in our state that we may have otherwise missed, and we are excited to welcome new players into the fold.”
Each day of trials (March 13th & 14th) will host a maximum of 50 players. Once those 50 registrations for each day are taken, any additional registrants will be placed on a waiting list.
After registering for an open trial spot, each attendee will receive a confirmation email, to which they must respond and confirm attendance. If an attendee does not respond, their spot will be given to the next registered individual on the waitlist.
Each open trial session will take place following strict COVID-safe guidelines. Each registrant must bring their own facemask, and training/evaluation will take place in groups only as large as is allowed by current state and federal health mandates.
