New Mexico United is thrilled to announce the acquisition of Colombia Youth International Isaac Zuleta, pending league and federation approval. Zuleta joins the Black & Yellow from Getafe in Spain, where he has been an incredible goal-scoring threat for the club’s youth system.
“Isaac is a talented, exciting young player with an incredibly high ceiling and terrific work ethic,” said United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. “Despite his young age, the international experience, and experience with an incredible club like Getafe, have prepared him to achieve in the Black & Yellow.”
Zuleta has made a terrific impression at Getafe – scoring hat tricks in each of his first three matches for the U-19 team, and tallying 16 goals in his first 11 matches for the club. Zuleta also scored his first international goal at just 19 years old for his native Colombia – a tally against Ecuador for the Colombia U-20 side in an international friendly.
Zuleta is considered a domestic player, and is eligible for Wednesday’s international friendly against Sunderland AFC. Kick-off in that match is scheduled for 7:00 PM MT.
