Kris Shakes comes up big in road trip
Loudoun County, Virginia – On Saturday afternoon New Mexico showed once again that even when their backs are against the wall they are never out of any match. Despite playing down a man for over 60 minutes against a scrappy Loudoun United FC side, Kris Shakes and the “Burque Backline” bent but never broke in a gritty 0-0 draw.
The night was highlighted by another remarkable night by Golden Glove Award candidate Kris Shakes who finished with eight saves. For the ninth time this season and eighth time during this unbeaten run United held its opponent scoreless. United’s unbeaten run now runs to 12 consecutive across all competitions and with an Orange County SC loss United is now top of the Western Conference table for the first time all season with three matches in hand.
New Mexico United now heads back to Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park for two matches in one week against Lexington SC and San Antonio FC. You can get your tickets at Seatgeek.com for both those matches.
