With a playoff and top four spot already locked in what else is there to play for? Well if United is to win out they lock up the number one spot in the Western Conference. The quest for that top spot starts Saturday.

Dennis the Menace

Since joining United Charlie Dennis has been nothing short of remarkable. The Englishman is on a hot streak on his own contributing to three of the Black and Yellow’s last five goals. Dennis earned Team of the Week honors along with teammate Niall Reid-Stephen who added two assists in New Mexico’s 3-1 win last Saturday. Reid-Stephen has added five assists and three goals to his stat line between international duty with Barbados and his first match back with United.

Jorge’s World

Jorge Hernandez’s offensive power continues and for San Antonio it is a blessing. Hernandez is tied for the team lead in goals, leads the team in assists and chances created, and is second in shots. In order for United to keep its hopes on the top spot in the Western Conference alive they need to contain any offensive threat he may start.

The Black and Yellow will welcome special guest German DJ BUNT to Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park before his show at Revel Entertainment after United’s match. BUNT will take the first kick and a special halftime lightshow will happen to his song “Trippin”. Fans do not need to download any apps for this all they have to do is scan the QR code on the video board to join.

On Saturday night history will be made as honorary players Santi Y Sebas will make their professional debut for New Mexico United. Fans are encouraged to pack the stands early to see this amazing moment play out!

New Mexico is riding the high of beating their rival Phoenix Rising on Sunday to not only get them back in the win column but also clinch a playoff spot for the team. History can happen at RGCU Field at Isotopes Park as Greg Hurst is two goals away from becoming the clubs all time leading goal scorer and head coach Dennis Sanchez is one win away from becoming the winningest coach in club history in just his second season.

Lletgetness

Former US Men’s National Team player Sebastian Lletget will step onto the pitch for Monterey Bay FC on Saturday night. Lletget scored against United in their thrilling 5-2 win in California earlier this year. Lletget leads Monterey Bay in goals scored and is towards the top in assists as well.

New Mexico looks to get back on the right track

As the New Mexican skies light up with Hot Air Balloons New Mexico United and Phoenix Rising will battle it out on the pitch below. For both sides there is so much more on the line than just bragging rights in this Southwestern Derby. Here’s everything you need to know!

October Ball

The lights are always brighter in the month of October! United heads into this match looking to get back on the right track and get some good momentum going into the final five matches of the season. On Sunday however the Black and Yellow will have a chance to check off one of their goals from their 2026 list. If United picks up all three points they will clinch a playoff spot for the seventh time in the team’s eight seasons. A draw can do it as well, baring Las Vegas Lights FC and Oakland Roots SC failing to win on Saturday.

The Albuquerque Box

Kris Shakes quest for a gold glove this season continues on as he has now eclipsed 100 saves in the 2026 season. Shakes still leads the USL Championship in saves by 12 and is quickly approaching an 80% save rate this season. Shakes 102 saves is already the most in franchise history (87 by Cody Mizell in 2019 is second). His 77.9% save percentage would be a franchise record for a full time keeper in club history. The current record is 69.4% by Alex Tambakis in the 2021 season. Needless to say Shakes’ 2026 season has been nothing short of historic. 

Up Up and Away

Ihsan Sacko’s 2026 season has kept Phoenix Rising in the playoff hunt. His 12 goals, four assists and 52 shots all lead Rising’s offensive categories. Fans may recall that two of his 12 goals this year came against the Black and Yellow in early April in United’s road loss to Phoenix.

Off on Route 66 for the Black and Yellow as they head to the Sooner State to take on Western Conference foe FC Tulsa. United will look to pick up their first points in Tulsa since 2024. Here’s everything you need to know!

Singin’ in the Rain

Well New Mexico wraps up the wettest September in a long time Tulsa will also be getting some rain. At kick off rain is expected in the Tulsa metro area so expect this match to be a defensive slog for both teams backlines. Key to New Mexico United picking up all three points in Tulsa will be Kipp Keller and Kris Shakes. Kipp Keller ranks 6th in the USL Championship and 2nd in the Western Conference in Clearances with 143 this season. As for Shakes he has been nothing short of remarkable as he leads the USL Championship in saves with 96. That is six more than second place and 13 more than the next Western Conference keeper.

Pain in the (Rough)Neck

New Mexico United and FC Tulsa have had many great battles with the two teams having a split record in this Route 66 Derby. The all time record is split 4-4-2 (W-L-D) but FC Tulsa has had the better of the Black and Yellow having a record of 3-1-1 in the last five meetings. United however evened up the series in the last meeting at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park last month. As for FC Tulsa they will look to Lamar Batista to anchor their backline with his 87 clearances and two goals this season.

Home sweet home. After a week long road trip that saw United pick up two draws in two different time zones, the Black and Yellow is finally home in front of a rowdy crowd. Here’s everything you need to know!

New Mexico will display their new ‘Bloom and Decay’ Meow Wolf night kits on Saturday night. United’s Friday night jersey launch event had over 800 RSVP’s for it and with multiple media outlets running stories about the jersey drop this may be one of United’s most popular kits designed. Fans that missed the event can pick their kits up at the New Mexico United Team Shop and online now, or at RGCU Field at Isotopes Park when gates open at 5:30pm!

Home Cookin’

Cristian Nava has been one of the best stories in the USL Championship this season. Nava has provided a spark of energy when he has entered every match he has played in this season and looks to get back on the scoring sheet for United. Greg Hurst as well has served a big part in United’s attack. Hurst’s next goal will put him into double digits and inch him closer to becoming the clubs all time leading goal scorer.

Hello Cal

Cal Jennings is back in the USL Championship after a stint in the country of Japan. The USL’s all-time leading multi goal game scorer was acquired by Sacramento Republic since the last time these two teams met. Jennings has tallied one goal since being acquired but has come close multiple times.

It is time for a little road trip up I-25 to Colorado Springs. United is looking to rebound after a 4-4 thriller Wednesday night in Birmingham, Alabama and get back on track in “The Springs”. Here’s everything you need to know!

The Wheels on the Bus

Every trip to Colorado Springs has a good amount of United fans. This go around the team is providing a bus for fans to head north for this massive match up between the two rivals. The bus will leave Albuquerque around 7 AM on Saturday and head to Colorado for this showdown. Expect a good amount of New Mexico United fans to make themselves heard in this one.

The Adventures of Bailey

Zico Bailey continued adding to his remarkable season with New Mexico United with an amazing goal on Wednesday night. Bailey made his 100th regular season USL appearance against Birmingham, having 3 goals on 19 shots. His continued distribution has helped United’s attacking front as their push for the playoffs continue.

It’s Khori

Kohri Bennett has once again reached over 10 in a season. Bennett has bagged 14 goals on 48 shots in 24 appearances. United fans will remember in the Black and Yellow’s season opener Bennett bagged a brace in a 3-2 United win.
