NEW MEXICO UNITED NAMES VIDEO CONTEST WINNERS FOR ALL-INCLUSIVE TRIP
First Financial Credit Union’s generous donation sends two father and son duos to the quarterfinals U.S. Open Cup match in St. Paul, Minnesota
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (June 28, 2019) Thanks to a generous donation from First Financial Credit Union to help subsidize the cost of a chartered flight to St. Paul, MN, 180 New Mexico United superfans will travel to cheer on the team as they play in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field.
The original trip package sold out in minutes, but fans were given the second chance of a lifetime to participate in the ‘Fan First Contest’ by submitting a short video to win an all-inclusive trip; including roundtrip airfare, lodging, transportation to and from the airport, a swag bag and a ticket to the match, provided by First Financial Credit Union. Video submissions were narrowed down to a top 7, and the winner was chosen through fan votes on New Mexico United’s website.
“Seeing the excitement of our fans and learning about their stories through these video submissions made this contest that much better,” said CEO and owner of New Mexico United, Peter Trevisani. “First Financial Credit Union providing this opportunity speaks to the power of community in New Mexico.”
The winner of the all-inclusive trip is Gerry R. and his son, Leo. The pair submitted a video outside of New Mexico United’s offices. Through multiple branded costume changes his son makes a compelling case for his father to snag a spot on this trip with some not so thinly veiled threats in jest against our property and front office staff.
“This incredible journey of the New Mexico United has not only United the city of Albuquerque, but the state of New Mexico as a whole,” said Chief Lending Officer of First Financial Credit Union, Greg Shaver. “First Financial Credit Union is honored to be a part of something this energizing and amazing!”
After seeing the incredibly passionate videos fans had put together, First Financial Credit Union wanted to do more. The financial institution will be providing a second all-inclusive trip to Minnesota for the runner-up. Carlos I and Carlos II T. will also be headed to cheer on New Mexico United. Carlos Sr. submitted this video featuring his son affectionately known as, Sombrero Man, who is a well known pillar in the New Mexico United supporters section. He is identifiable amid the yellow smoke by his elaborately embroidered sombrero.
All four winners will be joining the flight to Minnesota which departs from the Albuquerque International Airport on July 10 and returns on July 11.
