ALBUQUERQUE, NM (February 27, 2019) New Mexico United announced today the professional soccer team’s latest player signing, under the guidance of Head Coach Troy Lesesne. Daniel Bruce joins New Mexico United’s roster for its 2019 opening season. New Mexico United’s first official game will take place on March 9 against Fresno FC at Isotopes Park.
Bruce is the most recent player to sign with the team, joining 19 recently signed New Mexico United players, including four New Mexicans, Josh Goss, Devon Sandoval, Justin Schmidt and Josh Suggs, as well as former Lobo Chris Wehan, Ken Akamatsu, Ben Beaury, David Estrada, Juan Guzman, Sam Hamilton, Cody Mizell, Santi Moar, Saalih Muhammed, Ethen Sampson, Justin Schmidt, Toni Soler, Rashid Tetteh, Ryan Williams, and Austin Yearwood. All player signings are pending United Soccer League (USL) and federation approval.

Daniel Bruce, midfielder, hails from Warrington, England and spent his college career from 2014-2018 a the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he made 63 appearances, 52 starts, 18 goals, and 12 assists. During his college soccer stay in Charlotte, he earned the team’s “David Schlee Award”, Conference USA Player of the Week twice, Conference USA Regular Season Title, First-Team All-Conference USA, NCCSIA All-State, Third-Team All-Southeast Region and Second-Team All-Conference USA.
“Daniel joins our club after a great college career at UNC Charlotte. Every time I watched him, he would simplify the game for his teammates, but make it very difficult on the opponent,” said Lesesne. “He's an extremely competitive individual that refuses to be outworked and I'm confident he will make the most of his first professional contract.”
