(January 19, 2022) Albuquerque, NM – New Mexico United is excited to announce the return of Ron Patel – one of the club’s founders – ahead of the 2022 USL Championship season. Patel served as United’s Vice President of Ticket Sales and Partnerships and Chief Revenue Officer before joining Rio Grande Valley FC in 2020 as their Club President – helping lead the Toros to new heights and a playoff appearance in 2021. Patel will serve in the role of Chief Business Officer.
“It feels very natural to come back home to the New Mexico United family,” said Patel. “Being someone who has now left and returned home to the Land of Enchantment, I’ve never felt more of a sense of pride and purpose in the work I’m undertaking. Words can’t describe my excitement and my eagerness to get to work and serve the club and community I love dearest. Somos Unidos!”
Prior to playing a pivotal role in the founding of New Mexico United, Patel was the President and Co-Founder of the Albuquerque Sol – PDL/USL League 2 club in Albuquerque that played for five seasons. While in Texas – serving as President of RGVFC – Patel also served as President of Golden Grape Entertainment – operating HEB Park and Ogden Arena and hosting hundreds of live events ranging from concerts to soccer matches.
In 2021, Patel took over as Managing Director of NISA Nation, a full-year amateur soccer league for independent clubs with aspirations of joining NISA (National Independent Soccer Association) at the pro level. Under Patel’s watch, the league expanded to over 25 clubs and achieved national league status.
